Monday 13th: “Welcome”

Word of the Day: “Welcome”

Our first ‘Word of the Day’ choice was an easy one… “Welcome” to all of our students from around the world!

With our students feeling more settled and at home, we began our day with some tests to help determine which class they will be in. This was followed by a tour of the beautiful St Martin’s Sixth Form campus where our summer school takes place.

During the tours, students and staff completed various activities such as drawing portraits of each other.

Our social activities staff then led some outdoor games in the afternoon which gave our students a chance to get to know each other better.

We ended the day with the Sorting Ceremony, where the students were sorted into their Harry Potter Houses: Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Gryffindor or Slytherin. They must now do their best to earn ‘House Points’ throughout the course. The race for the House Trophy begins!

Our ‘House Games’ brought out everyone’s competitive spirit through a series of activities which left plenty of smiles on faces and the air filled with laughter.

Perhaps the most challenging game of all was the ‘Skis Race’ which left a few teams lagging behind the others…

The Skis Race put the teamwork of each house to the test

The funniest moments undoubtedly came from the ‘Team Drawing Chain’ which proved both challenging and hilarious.

The House Games certainly created a welcoming atmosphere to set the tone for the days ahead.
